Lata Mangeshkar returns after 17 years with Saadgi
On the eve of World Music Day Indian music industry's nightingale released her album after 17 years.
Aptly titled Saadgi these hindi gazal songs have been penned by Javed Akhtar. And none other than Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh was there to do the honours.
"I am a musician and for me everyday is a special music day there's no special day like father's day, mother's day for me I touch my parents feet daily," said the queen of melody on her album's launch coinciding with the World Music Day.
But the living legend did have something to say on her latest album. "It has something new."
This was the view echoed by Jagjit Singh who had sung along with Lata in her first ghazal album Sajda.
"This album is nice and the words are good," said Jagjit Singh.
Sister Usha and some known faces from the music industry were also present at the album's release. And one hopes Saadgi does a Sajda.
