Mandira back in action in 'Gully Cricket'
Life’s changed for anchor-actor Mandira Bedi ever since the game of cricket took her on.
And speaking of the game, it’s that time of the year again when bricks become stumps, passersby become wicket-keepers and balconies become galleries.
Max is back with with another season of Gully Cricket. Also this time round, Mandira won’t be alone.
‘‘I am joined in by Sameer Khan, the Toss ka Boss boy who has been taken on by MAX as brand ambassador as well,’’ informs the lady who can’t wait to get playing.
The ‘team’ will in fact visit the cities of Hyderabad, Nagpur, Kolkata, Mangalore, Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Amritsar, Ahmedabad and Lucknow between September 7 and September 30 to take the cricket fever from the lofty stadiums to the dingy bylanes.
The return of Gully Cricket is well-timed given the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which is being played in India for the first time.
‘‘Haven’t we all grown up playing cricket on the streets? Didn’t we all have our special rules of catching and bowling?"
Mandira promoting women cricket
"I’m glad that MAX has again given me the opportunity to be able to go out and play cricket with everyone."
"And by that I mean the lovely women who have shown in the previous years that they can be quite a handful on the cricket pitch. It’s time we showed the men again that the streets belong to us!’’ the witty Bedi hits a sixer!
